He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1985, where he was a staff writer for the Pacific Law Journal Review of Legislation. Mr. Hawley worked for seven years at the Nevada Supreme Court, and served as Staff Counsel to two Chief Justices of that Court. He has handled appeals in both the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He successfully represented clients in appeals regarding issues that range from gaming to sexual harassment in the schools, and from worker’s compensation to domestic relations. Mr. Hawley’s service to the state of Nevada and its legal community includes chairing the Supreme Court Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution from 1989 to 1991; and membership on the Supreme Court Committees on Expediting Criminal Appeals; Expediting Child Custody Matters; and the Supreme Court Bench, Bar & Media Committee.
