Partner

Mr. Hawley graduated from Boulder City high School in 1975, and from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1980. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1985, where he was a staff writer for the Pacific Law Journal Review of Legislation. Mr. Hawley worked for seven years at the Nevada Supreme Court, and served as Staff Counsel to two Chief Justices of that Court. In that capacity, he chaired or served on several Court committees, and represented the Court during two sessions of the Nevada Legislature, carrying much of that court’s nonfiscal legislative portfolio. Mr. Hawley has significant jury trial experience in matters ranging from catastrophic personal injuries and building collapses to insurance bad faith and the full spectrum of automobile cases. He has also handled insurance coverage and bad faith matters, and a wide variety of premises liability cases, including issues that range from slip and fall to inadequate security. Mr. Hawley’s years of experience with the Nevada Supreme Court uniquely qualifies him to handle appellate matters. He has handled appeals in both the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He successfully represented clients in appeals regarding issues that range from gaming to sexual harassment in the schools, and from worker’s compensation to domestic relations. Mr. Hawley’s service to the state of Nevada and its legal community includes chairing the Supreme Court Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution from 1989 to 1991; and membership on the Supreme Court Committees on Expediting Criminal Appeals; Expediting Child Custody Matters; and the Supreme Court Bench, Bar & Media Committee.
