Thomas Winner has been representing businesses and people in Nevada courtrooms since 1993. Tom and his team have secured a record of verdicts, many in large damages cases with difficult odds. Tom regularly speaks to insurance and industry groups about Nevada trial practice and Nevada insurance law. While the bulk of his practice has been in defending lawsuits, Tom has successfully prosecuted civil cases and appeals on behalf of plaintiffs.
Since founding the firm in 2004, Tom has overseen the firm’s evolution, from its first staff meeting on the floor of a borrowed office, to one of the most respected firms of its kind in the region, an established and burgeoning practice of statewide reach. Over the years, he has acquired experience and wisdom in insurance, bad faith, malpractice, personal injury, and disability in a diverse and varied civil trial practice. He has held a Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV since 2005. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation-only association of lawyers and judges who have demonstrated proficiency and civility in trial practice. Tom is a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA), the trial lawyer honorary society. Nevada Super Lawyers and Mountain States Super Lawyers has honored Tom as one of the top attorneys in the mountain states (Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming) eleven times, in 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 and in all relevant lists in Super Lawyers Business Edition. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Defense Research Institute, and the Primerus Defense Institute. He has frequently been asked to serve as a neutral or arbitrator in contested civil matters.
Tom was born and reared on the dusty plains of Nebraska, and attended the University of Nebraska College of Law on academic scholarship. He graduated in 1993, having been selected for the National Moot Court Team, as a member of the Order of the Barristers. Since graduation, he has made Las Vegas his home.
Tom is an avid fan of Cornhuskers football, a supporter of Golden Knights hockey, live music and local restaurants, and is the doting father of two.
